Nariman Ali

Nariman Ali is a dedicated plaintiff lawyer practicing in Wrongs Act 1958 (Vic) matters, particularly institutional abuse litigation, bringing a unique and well‑rounded perspective shaped by her prior experience and post-graduate studies in Health and Medical Law at Melbourne University.

Nariman commenced her legal career at a plaintiff firm while completing her studies, initially acting for total and permanent disability (TPD) claimants. Following her admission to practice in November 2020, she continued to work extensively in plaintiff TPD matters, with additional exposure to Queensland personal injury claims. In 2023, Nariman transitioned into defendant practice, where she gained experience in complex, multi‑defendant silicosis claims. She also completed a Global Health Fellowship with Results Australia during which she participated in research and advocacy for increased funding for tuberculosis programs. From 2024 until early 2026, she primarily acted for the Victorian WorkCover Authority, developing a deep understanding of liability assessment and litigation strategy.

This breadth of experience now informs Nariman’s work. She has the ability to assess matters impartially, considering each case from both plaintiff and defendant perspectives at an early stage to provide clear, strategic advice on prospects and pathways to resolution. Nariman is particularly driven by a strong sense of social justice and a long‑standing commitment to giving back, having been involved in various volunteering roles throughout her career.

Nariman is passionate about advocating for survivors of negligence and institutional abuse, helping people who may not otherwise have a voice to tell their truth and pursue accountability with dignity and respect.

Her work and commitment have been recognised through multiple industry accolades, including being named a Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 2026 Finalist (Health, Medical and Personal Injury) and an Australian Law Awards 2025 Rising Star Finalist. Additionally, she completed the NMAS Mediation Accreditation Training and Assessment in 2020.
