Joanne grew up just outside London starting her legal career as a Junior Legal Secretary in a general practice law firm in Surrey, England before moving into a Legal Secretary role working for a criminal lawyer.  It was in this role that Joanne started to develop her passion for the legal profession along with all its traditions.

In 2002, after backpacking through Asia for four months, Joanne emigrated to Australia and continued her legal career in various Paralegal and Law Clerk roles working in various areas of law before starting within the personal injury area in 2010.

In 2010, Joanne started her medical negligence journey as a Senior Paralegal assisting in gathering evidence, preparing cases and liaising with clients to enable a claim to be made.  During this time, she assisted in preparing motor vehicle accident claims, WorkCover claims and Public Liability claims. However, it was medical negligence that caught her attention as the area she wanted to practice in.

In 2011 Joanne commenced her Bachelor of Law degree at USQ and was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2016. In 2017, Joanne returned to USQ and completed Honours, focusing her studies on medical negligence and the legislation which governs these claims.  During her studies she also continued to work as Law Clerk in a large national firm within the personal injuries team whilst also raising her young family.

After developing a deep understanding of the legal process over the many years as a Paralegal and since her admission as a Solicitor, Joanne understands that to achieve the best outcome for her clients, the evidence requires thorough forensic investigations, analysis of the evidence and detailed preparation. She understands that her clients have one opportunity to make a claim and that it is imperative all evidence is gathered and all injuries assessed to enable them to be compensated for the injury which has occurred, through no fault of their own.

Joanne is confidently able to work with and assist her clients navigate through what can sometimes be a very challenging and complex area of law, allowing them to fully understand the strengths and weaknesses of their claim, the process and the likely outcome for them.

Joanne is a client focused, passionate and empathetic solicitor. She takes the time to listen to each client’s unique situation, ensuring that, when a claim can be made, they are compensated for the injuries they have suffered and the devasting effects those injuries have on their daily lives.

Joanne is also able to assist clients with motor vehicle accident claims, WorkCover claims, public liability claims and total and permanent disability claims.
