Jonathan Coyle has been practising law for more than 32 years, with his career dedicated to helping people navigate complex personal injury claims. Over the years, he has worked with claimant firms, insurers, and in-house at Insurance Australia Group (NRMA Insurance). Having seen how both sides approach a case, Jonathan brings a practical, balanced perspective to every matter — one that focuses on fairness, strategy, and genuine results for his clients.

Jonathan joined Longton Legal in 2016 to establish a personal injury practice acting for claimants and later joined Longton Compensation Lawyers, where he continues to practise in complex injury litigation.

He has extensive experience in medical and professional negligence, catastrophic motor vehicle accidents, public liability, intentional torts, and property damage claims. Jonathan has appeared in courts across Australia, including the District and County Courts, Supreme Courts, Courts of Appeal, and the High Court of Australia.

One of the highlights of his career was appearing before the full bench of the High Court in Kendirjian v Lepore [2017] HCA 13, instructing Mr Bret Walker SC in a significant case on advocates’ immunity. It was a defining moment that reflected both the depth of his experience and his commitment to advancing the rights of claimants.

In 2025, Jonathan was recognised in the Doyles Guide as a recommended lawyer in both the Leading Medical Negligence Lawyers and Leading Motor Vehicle Accident Lawyers – Plaintiff (NSW) categories — recognition of his longstanding commitment to clients and his track record of achieving meaningful outcomes.

Jonathan takes pride in his straightforward, client-focused approach. He understands the stress that comes with serious injury and litigation, and he works closely with every client to guide them through the process with clarity, care, and confidence.

Any reference to a “Partner” means an employee with sufficient seniority. Longton Compensation Lawyers is an incorporated legal practice and not a partnership.
